I just wanted to let you all know I feel better, but it’s really boring to only stay calm. I also get lots of water so I pee a lot.. Mom says we won’t know for sure if there’s any permanent damage for a few weeks and until then we’ll just have to be bored.. Mom has been moving a lot of furniture and I have “helped”. She also got us a pair of couches for free! I’ve been testing them a lot 😉 Mom is making what should become her dogtrainingreenhouseoffice (BOL!) downstairs so she won’t disturb PA if he’s asleep and won’t be cold in winter (the fireplace is downstairs). It’s what would traditionally be the dining room, but we hardly ever use the dining table and certainly don’t need a room for it!
I also wanted to share some pictures from the walk Mom and I had on Friday before the stupid snake appeared.
We still have leash restrictions for a few more weeks, but Mom just let me off leash for a few photos!
I used the opportunity for a little running!
Whatcha doing down there?
Can you see me? I’m SuperPuppy flying back down!
It’s 8 PM and Gummi has just gotten his second dose of antibiotics today. He got antibiotics and prednisolone at 8 AM and at that point he was clearly swelling up and sneezing until he started bleeding.. But after 12 hours since the pred he’s not yet swelling enough to start the sneezing so he IS getting a little better. It’s still a bit swollen and I’ll still check on him tonight. But yesterday and overnight he’d get much worse 10 hours after the pred so we’re feeling a bit more positive tonight. He’s even attempted to chase the cats, so perhaps keeping him calm will be the main challenge from now on.
Thanks for all the good wishes!
We were almost home from our walk this morning when Gummi was bit by a snake.. It was our only poisonous, one the Common European Viper/Adder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vipera_berus). I gave him prednisolone right away to keep the swelling down (he was bit on the nose) and off to the vet where we he got some shots and he’ll be on pred and antibiotics for a while.. Unless he suddenly appears ill now in the beginning he’ll probably be okay, though kidney issues and heart issues can turn up after a while.. I have to keep him calm for at least a week, now that will be a challenge!
I’m not feeling so good, Mom, I think I’ll just lie down for a while..
Please keep your paws and finger crossed he won’t have any after effects! At least we had a good two hours in the woods before it happened, so he’ll be okay inside for today at least. 😉
